Instead of committing an act of hypocrisy worthy of my site, I would much rather you focus on committing an act of charity, love or heroism that we can all be thankful for and applaud. :)

Leaders in what ever capacity they may be, (Pastors, Preists, Imams, political figures, maybe even professional athletes) should be held to a higher standard. But we are humans, and we don’t even live up to our own standards a lot of the time, much less the higher standards of others. But, yeah, to answer your question, I think leaders should be called out when they do something like this, when becoming leaders, they, on some level, agreed try their best to uphold this higher standard.

Compared to Jesus, you are quite lenient on hypocrisy.

I would love to commit an act of hypocrisy worthy of your site, but I am a very competitive person and I just don’t think I could outdo Ted Haggard.

If you did something like this, hell yes I would write a post about you! But I doubt you’d do something like this.

But you have to admit it’s sad and frustrating when a Pastor, who is supposed to be leading people in morality, puts out another person’s work as their own. It’s dishonest and, IMO, disqualified someone from the pastorate.

Don’t you think people should be called out if they do something dishonest like this?

I want debate to be “intellectually honest” (as Krouse/Mohler would say) as well, and to keep it that way we have to denounce plagiarism.

@Wade: The only argument I’m making here is the guy is a hypocrite. I think you agree with me on that. Just because he’s a hypocrite doesn’t mean Christianity is wrong — it’s wrong because it’s based on myth and there is no evidence to support any of the miraculous claims.

Daniel, I am becoming a little concerned about your method here. You have had a quite a few post lately that make ad hominem arguments. You said in a previous post that martyrdom is not case for truth but merely an example of the sincerity of the believer. I would state that items such as this and the other posts are not a case for truth but an example of the insincerity of the believer. In fact, to paraphrase GK Chesterton, “Sin is the only Christian doctrine that can actually be proven true. It is a fact as practical as potatoes.” So if anything, these ad hominem arguments pull more weight in reaffirming Christian doctrine than debunking it. I have faith that you can do better.
