Christian emails

Most of the emails and comments I get from Christians are kind. Many are concerned because they think I’m going to hell, and others want to vent their feelings that I must have never been a “real” Christian, because I left the faith. And a surprising few are intelligent and have sparked enjoyable correspondence.

But sometimes, they’re nasty, like this comment:

You are just a pathetic weak person who in his dreams thinks that he is someone great….

You failed and to hide your failure you found a new way of life, typical character of an useless… I really suspect you are a homo.

Just think if there is someone called Baal exist why no one in whole world worship him except you Mr. Pathetic. Why Mr. Baal didn’t make a comeback after Elijah defeated him in the test.

You claim that you were a Christian, but the truth is you never been a Christian you only born in a Christian family and that doesn’t make anyone Christian. A true Christian is the one who believes in Christ Jesus and walk in his ways.

Who do these people think they are? They don’t know anything about me. And then, after acting like a jackass, they have the audacity to tell me what a Christian is and how they should act!

His anger stemmed from not realizing my post on irrefutable evidence for Baal was a joke. He thought I was serious that I worship Baal. When I responded telling him I was joking, and that his comment was deleted because of his inappropriate (and false) accusations, he replied:

Really ur joking fucking bustard then joke abt ur mamma because to find out ur father you should do a DNA test ass hole

Well now. Doesn’t that make you want to go out and convert to Christianity? The intelligence and charity are almost enough to win me over.

  1. I find it exceptionally funny that they think that being called gay is the worst insult in the world.
Sometimes when I am called that to insult me I really like to say, yeah I´m gay what are you gonna do about it, in fact there are many people that think I´m openly gay but are confused because I have a wife and child.

  2. That is funny.

  3. I wouldn’t have given such an unintelligible, imbecilic collection of words a second thought or a serious response. I generally don’t respond to people that attack me personally on my blog if they aren’t smart enough to follow simple rules of spelling and grammar.

I would also have not deleted it, so everone else can see how stupid this person sounds.

Also, your post about Baal is so obviously a joke.

  4. Well, he’s convinced me. Where do I sign up?

  5. Wow, so he essentially called your mother a whore. How lovely. I guess he would be surprised to learn that a number of the most prominent women in the bible whom god favors are, in fact, prostitues. Ignoramus!

You know, even if your mother was a whore, it’s not like you can help it. How does that reflect on the person you are? It doesn’t unless you’re talking to a bigoted asshole.

The poor grammar is the icing on the cake. Love it!

  6. There are abusive idiots in all aspects of life. When they also claim to have the moral high ground it becomes ironic, although irony is certainly lost on this guy.

  7. Perhaps you should turn this into a regular feature, and give us all a chuckle from time to time.

I always include a disclaimer which says any hate mail I receive may be published, with the headers and identifying information. I haven’t had to put it into practice yet, but the option is always there: asshattery comes at a price.

  8. Daniel help me out here because I am lost, if this person is a christian, where is the love? compassion?

Also, what has homosexuality to do with this? He could have said as well: I suspect you are a descendant of Godzilla.

    Take it easy guys!

  9. Jorge: Descendants of Godzilla aren’t famous for their fashion sense. Calling someone gay is kind of a back-handed comment with the stereotypes going around right now.

I wish my blog was famous enough for me to get hate mail…

congratulations, Daniel! You’re big enough to be a threat!

  10. Yep, I’ve gotten a few of those too. It’s sad, because most of the Christians I know are nice people. Idiots like that give them a bad name.

  11. His winning rhetoric and reasoned argument IS certainly convincing…

It almost seems that people like this already have an agenda and have sought out christianity (sic) to use as a defence for their otherwise ludicrous outpourings. Or maybe the same unbalanced minds that consider “gay” an insult are also attracted to the nonsensical jabberings of the average “believer”. It certainly says a hell of a lot more about them than the recipient.

Of course, I can’t help but reminded of the late, great Bill Hicks in situations like this. When approached by self-cofessed christians after a show, looking threatening and saying “Hey buddy, we’re Christians, we don’t like what you said.” he replied “Then forgive me”.

  12. As tempting as it is to mock stuff like this, or even rebuff it, it’s really just a tragedy. This person doesn’t seem to have been taught how to think, nor does it seem that they are capable of stepping outside of their mental prison, perhaps forever doomed to confuse his inner doubts with the outer world and only left the option of irrational attack to deal with them.

And just think how many people since time out of memory have lived their lives just like this.

    What a downer.

  13. I bet Jesus wouldn’t have sent you a nasty e-mail…

  14. While a lot of (so called) christians would admonish him for sending such a hateful email, I bet many, deep in their hearts, are cheering him. It’s the sort of dichotomy the live every day. And I find it funny (or frightening) too that this sort of reaction seems reserved for atheists. I mean, even Hindu people get more respect than atheists (I guess since they buy into the supernatural as well?).

  15. Hey Daniel,
I guess I missed the post about Baal but it sure seemed to get this person steamed. It is rather obvious that he doesn’t follow the same Jesus you used to follow. You were a Christian long enough to know that. Your blog is one I usually read and consider. And though I have, on occasion, taken issue with some content, I certainly respect your right to say what you want.

  16. haha i get stuff like this all the time, even from my dad who is a Pentecostal precher.

  17. I see this as further evidence that being Christian has nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity.
