Hey Daniel,
I guess I missed the post about Baal but it sure seemed to get this person steamed. It is rather obvious that he doesn’t follow the same Jesus you used to follow. You were a Christian long enough to know that. Your blog is one I usually read and consider. And though I have, on occasion, taken issue with some content, I certainly respect your right to say what you want.

While a lot of (so called) christians would admonish him for sending such a hateful email, I bet many, deep in their hearts, are cheering him. It’s the sort of dichotomy the live every day. And I find it funny (or frightening) too that this sort of reaction seems reserved for atheists. I mean, even Hindu people get more respect than atheists (I guess since they buy into the supernatural as well?).

As tempting as it is to mock stuff like this, or even rebuff it, it’s really just a tragedy. This person doesn’t seem to have been taught how to think, nor does it seem that they are capable of stepping outside of their mental prison, perhaps forever doomed to confuse his inner doubts with the outer world and only left the option of irrational attack to deal with them.

And just think how many people since time out of memory have lived their lives just like this.

What a downer.

His winning rhetoric and reasoned argument IS certainly convincing…

It almost seems that people like this already have an agenda and have sought out christianity (sic) to use as a defence for their otherwise ludicrous outpourings. Or maybe the same unbalanced minds that consider “gay” an insult are also attracted to the nonsensical jabberings of the average “believer”. It certainly says a hell of a lot more about them than the recipient.

Of course, I can’t help but reminded of the late, great Bill Hicks in situations like this. When approached by self-cofessed christians after a show, looking threatening and saying “Hey buddy, we’re Christians, we don’t like what you said.” he replied “Then forgive me”.

Also, what has homosexuality to do with this? He could have said as well: I suspect you are a descendant of Godzilla.

Perhaps you should turn this into a regular feature, and give us all a chuckle from time to time.

I always include a disclaimer which says any hate mail I receive may be published, with the headers and identifying information. I haven’t had to put it into practice yet, but the option is always there: asshattery comes at a price.

You know, even if your mother was a whore, it’s not like you can help it. How does that reflect on the person you are? It doesn’t unless you’re talking to a bigoted asshole.

I wouldn’t have given such an unintelligible, imbecilic collection of words a second thought or a serious response. I generally don’t respond to people that attack me personally on my blog if they aren’t smart enough to follow simple rules of spelling and grammar.

I would also have not deleted it, so everone else can see how stupid this person sounds.

Also, your post about Baal is so obviously a joke.
