Religulous now in theaters

Religulous is now in theaters. Here are your local showing times, and here is the trailer:

I’ll probably wait until it comes out on DVD, but it looks really good.

Anyone seen it yet? If so, what did you think?

  1. You should see it now! It was a lot of fun watching it in the theaters with all the other local atheists.

Maher tells it like it is, but I didn’t think he did it in a mean or arrogant way. The people he interviews basically lampoon themselves.

  2. I saw it this afternoon. Bill has a lot of fun asking people questions about what they believe. Of the religious people he interviewed, I thought that the two Catholic priests came off the best. They were irreverent and undogmatic. Everyone else was just plane crazy. It’s lots of fun. In the end, Bill makes the point that religion is dangerous. He doesn’t hold back.

I know some people are a little wary of Bill Maher because of his unscientific views about food and medicine but you don’t see any of that nonsense in this movie. It’s all on target.

  3. There does not appear to be any information about the date of the Australian release, nor does the movie appear on the websites of the two major cinema companies.

I would not be surprised if Religulous silently passed Australia by.

  4. I recommend seeing it too.

David, I thought Francis Collins came of pretty well. I liked the two Catholic priests best though.

Proto, here in Ohio, US, it was only at one of our many local theaters, and then it was also showing at one of the art film houses up in Cleveland. I hope you get a chance to see it.

  5. Proto… I emailed the Dendy about the film and they said it will be released by Icon but no date had been set. They said to keep an eye on http://www.iconmovies.com.au for any new info but there’s nothing there as yet.

  6. This Movie was great. I have always been kinda on the fence, never christian, but not really willing to declare that there was no God out loud. After watching this movie, I turned to my friend, who is an atheist, and told him “Hello fellow atheist”

The last part scared me shitless too, I was shaking for an hour.

I do have to say the Catholic Priests came off well, and that Senator Probably won’t make re-election, after his “You don’t have to pass an IQ test to be in the Senate” remark. And was anyone else amused by how much the director of the Creation Museum looked like an Ape?
