@Daniel

Well, that depends what your view of how God works is Daniel. Some of us actually believe that we have free will and that God allows for us to choose him freely.

I used to think that pre-destination was the only way.. that everything that happened was "for a reason" no matter how..unjust or horrible it was..

I read "God of the possible" it leans more towards open theism, which is quite freeing.

I believe that God doesn't plan things before time, because, in order for love to be genuine, it has to be chosen freely. Otherwise, it wouldnt be real.
Some Christians might call me a heretic for saying this, but I don't believe the death of Jesus was planned either..

Actually, Keith, as Christian you really aren’t free to do anything—only what God has planned for you to do. So much for liberty.

[Sucks I wasn't free to write that comment, huh? I can't control myself — just random molecules moving — don't. even. know. how. I'm. writing. this. not. free....]

Actually, Dan, as a materialist you really aren't free to do anything---only what the movement of molecules in your brain tells you to do. So much for liberty.

Based on some of the comments here, I'm not sure you're completely free from the "called" and "set apart."

The first bulletted list could read also as a list of things to be thankful for. Thank you for your reason and wisdom!
