The Evolution of Technology

If technology evolved, would it look like this? Probably not, but it sure as hell looks cool:

  1. Why not? All we need is advanced AI, self-replicating systems and a lack of readily available power sources (hence the coal / waste powered t-rex thing).

  2. @Proto: I don’t think you need AI to have evolution. Self replication and a “natural selection” would be enough. It could eventually evolve AI, but since it’s evolution, wouldn’t it be natural by definition then? Even if the “life” itself is inherently mechanical/electronic?

Thanks for posting this commercial. Never saw it fully on TV. Only excerpts.

  3. Dang,now I want a Saturn…smart commercials blinding me…

  4. I LOVE that commercial…very slick…

  5. Impressive commercial. I know a lot of folks that jumped on the common misconceptions about evolution in it, but sometimes you just have to enjoy something for what it is … bad ass robotic organisms and hot android chicks.

  6. … anyone speak German, want to translate?

  7. I’m majoring in German and this is the translation to the best of my knowledge: “Now it is here. The best (literally:strongest) technology of all time.” I don’t know the next sentence, but then it says, “Saturn- We hate high prices (literally: expensive).”

  8. “..sure as hell..”

What?! I thought you were an atheist? :)

I’m German, I translated the missing party (maybe too literal).
“The selection was hard. But now it’s here. The best technology of all time. Merciless cheap.”

Saturn is a German chain of electronics stores. In their commercials they affirm being low-priced, in fact they are not. Kind of bullshit. Like religion if you want.
