The Idiot of the Week award goes to Michelle Bachmann for saying:
I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under Democrat President Jimmy Carter. And I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it is an interesting coincidence.
This congresswoman has repeatedly shown herself to be one stupid cookie.

I feel you have seriously shortchanged Ms. Bachmann.
To say she is an idiot just for the week understates her profound ability to be an idiot 24/7/365/12/ad infinitum.
Yet what does it matter, soon, according to her we’ll all be off to the “Happy Valley re-education camp”. (ouch, I bit my tongue whilst in cheek)
Bachmann’s comment would be stupid even if Carter had been the president at the time. The fact that Ford was the president makes the stupidity industrial strength.
Beat me by two minutes. :) But yes, industrial strength indeed.
And in this case she’s not even wrong. The outbreak happened in 1976 when Gerald Ford was president.
And I have to politely disagree with you on this post. The idiot of the week clearly should go to Joe the “Plumber” for this gem: “I wouldn’t have [homosexuals] anywhere near my children.”
Ah I didn’t hear that one. I’ll have to look it up.
thats not when it originally “broke out” though
Her stupidity ranks epic proportions. But what does it say about the people that re-elected her?
Read my comment on an earlier thread about Reichpublitards tarring you all with the same brush!
All I have to say to that is Teddy Kennedy.
I love it when people bring up “coincidences” they find “interesting” along with the strong hint that there’s some kind of conspiracy or malfeasance going on. It’s not an entirely useless line of reasoning, but usually like a Rorschach blot it tells you more about the person than what there is to see.
In this case, it’s “hello world, I’m an idiot!”.
Your favorite Bachman and her twelve favorite hits:

I’m calling for a Bachmann/Palin ticket in 2012. With Joe the Plumber acting as their press spokesman.
In America? That’s playing with fire. Idiot fire.
Hmmmm, for there to be cookies there would need to be an oven. Considering that I doubt her capabilities to negotiate and accept the use of fire than it must just be raw unformed cookie dough. Though for the there to be cookie dough, you need fresh ingredients that have probably been refrigerated, back to that whole fire thing again. umm, maybe unleavened, whole, wheat sun-dried flat breadlike substance, cuz of the whole no sugar, milk, eggs, chocolate type dealie. Can’t we just call her lacking in intelligent research processes.
If you decide to do an Idiot of the Year award, I think she’d be a frontrunner- she’s always saying dumb shit like this.
Bachmann is so much more than an idiot. She is straight up delusional-seeing-things-that-aren’t-there-INSANE. Here is the police report from when she was allegedly held hostage by lesbians (warning: pdf)

Oh, ffs. What’s the word which means the opposite of an ambassador for America?
village idiot for America?
Michelle Bachman, Republic representative of Minnesota’s 6th district, makes me ashamed to be a citizen of Minnesota and of the United States. And that’s saying something because I could handle Bush. He at least charmed some people by pretending to be a regular person.
I do not understand how Bachman got elected in a state that went to Al Gore, John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Al Franken. There must be something funny in the water of the 6th district.
I guess someone needs to do research before she says anything. I find it hard to believe people like her get into Congress but as an Arkansan Representative said ” You don’t have to take an IQ test to get elected “.
If Bachmann ran as VP for sarah palin, it might just be the end of the world.
California must secede.
Are you kidding? That would be the best news ever. It would mean the GOP would be utterly crushed, hopefully permanently.
What I wouldn’t give for an honestly consistently conservative party that wasn’t in thrall to corporatism and religion; the GOP either has to die or have a near-death experience for that sort of transformation to occur.
Causation-correlation fallacy.
Or, it would be, except that there wasn’t even a correlation.
The ultraconservatives seem to go for the simpleton fallacies; hence jokes about them thinking Hillary Clinton caused global warming. The jokers are pointing theirs out by making an absurd (well, even more absurd) causation-correlation fallacy that even idiots can see. (Well, we hope so, anyway.)
Feminism causing “the breakdown” of “traditional” biblical marriage, television or cell phones causing rude or stupid people, immoral people causing the breakdown of christianity and the country, the list of c-c ASSumptions goes on.
I don’t know the cause of Bachmann being an idiot, but she certainly is a breathtaking idiot.
How she ever got or stays elected is an insult to the people of Wisconsin. She barely was re-elected in ‘08. Come on 2010!
My bad. It’s Minnesota that is suffering under her “representation”. Must learn northern congress people.
My bad. It’s Minnesota that is suffering under her “representation”.
A very significantly large number of Republicans are mindbogglingly stupid. I’m not saying all stupid Americans vote Republican, or that being Republican makes you stupid. I just find it an interesting coincidence.
It’s a dilemma any democracy faces – rationally, having progress and welfare in mind precludes allowing the stupid to take part in decisions. But excluding the stupid (or at least somehow preventing them from forming or dominating political parties) is undemocratic. What to do?
remember at first the media said the flu had a mix of human, avian and swine viruses. now they say its regular ole swine flu. i think there were two flus. they let loose a controlled super-flu in mexico that they contained, then spread a normal swine flu everywhere else. I think it was practice to contain the super-flue they’ve genetically engineered. the feds have been engineering it since 2004 in conjuction with the WHO under the guise of testing to see if it could arise naturally. this was only a delivery and containment test. the real thing will come later as population control.
If only…
