Very, very good. And some things really rang true (including the James Blunt line, but Anne already mentioned that) – in time order:
* Can the rest of us have our planet back?
* Christians: you and your churches don’t get to be millionaires while other people have nothing at all. They’re your bloody rules. Either stick to them or abandon the faith.
* The Abrahamic faiths are like Scousers – they’re always convinced they have it harder than everyone else.
* A four-year-old is no more a Christian than he is a member of the postal workers’ union.
But (I believe) the greatest of these is the second: how can the christian churches / faith / religion be rich, when so many people have nothing? When they give all of their church’s money to those who have nothing, then maybe it’s time to talk.
For those who are interested, The Now Show (which this is from) is available as a podcast called ‘Friday Night Comedy’ on Itunes, where it alternates series with another great show called ‘The News Quiz’.
One of the great things about Radio 4. That and I’m Sorry i Haven’t a Clue. And Mark Watson (especially with Tim Minchin on the show).
The News quiz pisses me off by regularily getting important stuff about the world wrong. That and Sandi Toksvig thinking that GFP transgenic animals glow in the dark, but that’s a common mistake.
I really loved his point that the religious moderates are the consumers of religion, and without them, the religious nutter-power-base falls. Great video!

The best ever Radio 4 show is “I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue”. Humphrey Littleton will be sorely missed, but the show itself is sheer genius.
Here’s an episode featuring George W Bush quotes:

“Religious folk… eat cheese like the rest of us… but they have to admit that they are a power base for the nutters.”
THE TRUTH IS
