Liberty Council now has an “adopt-a-liberal” program. It won’t make any difference in the real world, but maybe it will keep the fundies busy for a while. I’m all for prayer, because it keeps the fundies from doing anything productive to advance their cause. Here is their explanation of the program:
Liberty Counsel has therefore named this special new prayer-in-action program Adopt a Liberal. And that’s exactly what we invite you to do — adopt a liberal who is in authority for regular, intense prayer in accord with St. Paul’s admonition to his disciple, Timothy. In fact, we expect that many of our friends and supporters will choose to adopt many liberals as subjects of regular prayer!

I guess most of us are #15, because even if we don’t consider ourselves liberal, you can be sure that Liberty Council does.
My favorite bio of theirs is Director John Holdren:
President Obama’s “Science Czar” is one of the administration’s many unelected, unconfirmed, and unaccountable senior policy officials. Holdren has suggested compulsory sterilization and abortion as appropriate policies for population control. He is on record as calling for the national government dictating how large families can be. Dr. Holdren is a “one world order” proponent, stating that, “a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources.” In an article he co-authored, Holdren advocated sterilization through government-controlled tainting of the water supply.
There’s more fear in that paragraph than in five minutes of FOX News!

So, when a member of that “Liberty Council” reads that sentence, they trust it? Come on! Any people would doubt that assertion and would try to check it, wouldn’t they?

I really suggest reading the descriptions, it guarantees a good laugh. Some highlights:

The thing that amuses me is that the entire term “Czar” is made up by the media. If you look at the ACTUAL title of the position in question, you’ll see that these are positions that have long been in the government, and dspite rumors to the contrary, Bush Jr. appointed people to fill them as well. Such as a Drug Czar, also known as Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Sigh, the willfull ignorance is just astonishing…

I wouldn’t call myself a liberal, although the conservatives won’t have me. On the other hand, I’ve had liberals call me conservative. I’m confused and confusing.
On the other hand if religious folks want to term me liberal and spend time praying for me rather than, say, standing on the street corner annoying people, I can live with it.
To be honest, I’m all for banning street preachers in the UK. No other group of people would have license to spout unsubstantiated waffle at high volume in public – why should preachers?

On another note, the word “liberal” does appear in the bible. Rapture and trinity does not.
I call myself “progressive”, but I just get lumped in with the “liberals” just the same. It really doesn’t bother me, though. Most Americans are too ignorant to understand the difference.
In 2006, Republican Todd Hiett and Democrat Jari Askins ran for Leuitenant Governor of Oklahoma. Hiett’s tv ads tried to label Askins as, and I quote, “too liberal for Oklahoma.” Askins ended up winning the election, and to this day I self-identify with Hiett’s phrase.

The quoted material was from a section of the book that described different possible approaches to limiting population growth and then concluded that the authors’ own preference was to employ the noncoercive approaches before the environmental and social impacts of overpopulation led desperate societies to employ coercive ones. Dr. Holdren has never been an advocate of compulsory abortions or other repressive means of population limitation.”

I actually really love cats, but it’s hard to resist messing with them sometimes.
Try a pencil under the collar or sellotape on the paws … drives them nuts!
My little buddy doesn’t wear a collar, so the pencil trick wouldn’t work. I have actually taped his paws in order to give him a bath without getting mauled, and the result was one unhappy kitty.
Some of the things I’ve tried:
Putting a sock on his head
Putting a finger in his mouth when he yawns
Carrying him around in a pillowcase
Holding him a few inches away from his food when he’s hungry
Holding him a few inches away from running water
After I have my fun, I usually feel so sorry for him that I give him lots of affection afterward. Despite how it may seem, I really do love cats in general and my cat in particular.

Ah-nold is, indeed, a Republican … however he is MARRIED to a KENNEDY and that makes him suspect (never mind that he endorsed McSame a few days before his wife endorsed Bam-Bam). Also, and this is infinitely worse in the mind of the Faux News Faithful, he has a nasty habit of being pragmatic rather than blindly ideological: for example when the ‘Luv Gov’ Mark “don’t cry for me” Sandford decided to very publicly refuse the Stimulus Money (despite the fact that at that time SC had the second highest unemployment in the nation and was looking at a record breaking budget deficit) Da Govuh-natuh went on national television to say: “if South Carolina doesn’t want the money I’d like to accept it for them … because WE NEED IT OVER HERE!” and that enlightened self interest crap just won’t fly with Beck’s America! You’ve got to be against ANYTHING that the President is for (or even just agrees to) or you’re right out of the Club House boy-o! Also it helps if you are utterly tone-def to irony, color blind to hypocrisy, and drink a big mug of Kool-aide with your Wheaties every morning.
On the one hand it’s a bit nauseating to watch a life long conservative like Colon Powell (or even someone like Arnold) be utterly reviled for refusing to toe the party line … on the other hand this can only hurt the Neo-cons agenda in the long run: by constantly coming up with litmus tests for “real republicans” they just keep alienating those moderate swing voters that we keep hearing so much about.
Personally I was screaming to anyone who would listen about the insanity of the levels of deficit spending that Dick “Deficits Don’t Matter” Cheney was pushing for 8 years; and I backed Obama mostly because I didn’t think that there was a snowball’s chance in hell that the McGoo /Caribou ticket would do anything to either reign that spending in nor would they do anything to see that the people brought to justice that the Dubaya ‘Justice’ dept had been ignoring for two terms (Gitmo Torturers, Warrantless Wiretaps, et al) … so far the Dems have been an Epic Fail on all counts (Look Forward Not Backward my lightly bepimpled ass) and now it looks like we’ll be jacking up the War in Afghanistan, maintaining the War in Iraq, and, just for shits-and-giggles, thinking about maybe making a move on Iran while we’re over there.
I keep hoping that enough people will get sick of the bumbling ineptitude of the Liberals and the mindless hypocrisy and scaremongering of the Neo-cons and fracture both parties into more logical subgroups: I’d really like to be able to vote FOR a party that I actually agree with most of the time rather than the current situation where I vote AGAINST whomever I think will do the most damage … but that would require a Fiscally Conservative, Socially Permissive, Reality Based Party which would probably just give the Reds and the Blues something to rally their respective Bases against.
