Well… Vatican is a pretty socialist country. They don’t have a lot of possessions of their own, but are state’s properties; they have a salary direct from the only-party organisation and the benefits -appart from what they have to use to life- are for the party (call it RC); they can’t deny what his leader say -because he is infallible, ya know- even when it contradicts real facts. They choose their leader between the members of their own organisation just like cuba does. His needs are covered by the state…
Of course there are also some differencies, like those about women rights but still, it has a lot of things in common with a communist dictatorship
My husband’s grandmother is one of these people. She was actually stocking up on household supplies this time last year and then told he and I that we should come live at her house after Obama was sworn into office and immediately pronounced the NWO since she was prepared.
When we’ve seen her since then it’s something very similar to the doomsday cult “it’s coming and will happen soon”.
I actually cut the inside of my lip last time we were there from biting it so hard. The Catholic Church has condemned socialism because it denies the central truth of Christianity- that man needs god. Just look at that statement for a moment. If people learned to be more self-reliant and simultaneously helped one another more, god would become obsolete. No wonder they are afraid. I never thought I would say this, but Sarah Silverman was right- if the Catholic Church actually wanted to help the people, they would sell Vatican City and feed every starving individual in the world- probably for years. Too bad their compassion doesn’t extend that far into their collective wallets.
