LOL! That’s genius :D
Love. I feel the need to point out the hover over message too:
“Scientists are also sexy, let’s not forget that.”
:)
Wonderful. Off topic, can anyone tell me how many variations of Christianity there are? Thanks
About 38,000 is the number I seem to recall from a 2001 report. Give or take a couple thousand I’m sure. And those are the ofically recognized ones. It doesn’t take into account the basement cults, or differentiations in countries that just don’t track this sort of information.
“Real, True Christians”, and “Hell-bound Sinners”, where everyone* think they (and possibly a half-dozen others in their church) are in the former category, and everyone else is in the latter.
*Yes, I know this isn’t actually true.
Reminds me of a joke,
A guy dies and goes to heaven as saint peter is escorting him in, they get into a big elevator and peter explains that there are multiple sections to heaven, as they pass one floor peter says, “this is calvinist heaven”. As they reach another floor, “This is muslim sunni heaven”, “this is mormon heaven” and so on. After a while they reach a floor an peter tells the guy to remain VERY quiet and not make any movement. The guy is surprised but stands perfectly still and quiet. “That was Catholic heaven”, says peter sheepishly, “They think they’re the only ones here!”
Let me off at the FSM Heaven.
Off topic, can anyone tell me how many variations of Christianity there are? Thanks
Nope, it literally cannot be done because we lack adequate knowledge to do so.
Would “a lot” be helpful? :)
Somewhere between 1.5 and 2 billion variations, I’d say.
There is only…One (true) and that is Spirit not a denomination or “church”. Christ Himself is (literally) what we call “Christianity” but since most of us don’t know who He is then we cant possibly comprehend this thing we call “Christianity” either even though we think we know since we have had some prior “religious” exposure, ie went to church or were raised in some “religious” household. (Not pickin on you br…just a general comment about Christianity and the “variations” that you eluded to).
There is only One, one Spirit, one baptism (in the spirit) One Lord.
Thanks for proving TRJ’s point.
And a perfect example of my point, too…
Oh. Of course. It makes perfect sense now. How silly of me.
You guys opted for the easy way out I see. And Sunny…you and Aor separated at birth? Cuz its getting hard to tell you two apart. The mantle seems to have fallen on you when He’s not around, you’re doing a good job filling in.
Ho ho ho…
I think they were just answering the question that had been asked. That’s called being helpful. None of this obfuscated mumbo-jumbo you like to call the good news.
Hey Kodie, good to hear from you, hope you are doing well.
Had to laugh at this; then take a deep breath as I realised it wasn’t so funny. This cartoon sums up all I have against religion, and the Christian Right in the States in particular. Was it here someone said we were about 1% of the popular vote and a heart attack away from having that moron Palin with her sticky mitts on the nuclear codes? If that doesn’t frighten you, it damned well ought to.
That is one of my favorite XKCDs. I have had it on my office wall for a while now.
Actually, I’m not scared at all if a moronic repub took office, or filled the supreme courts with conservative, pro-life justices, or took majority of our bicameral legislative branch (after Obamas second term, of course). Because of this beautiful logical explanation from Dr.Neil deGrasse Tyson http://tinyurl.com/cjob46.
As he put it “no republican wants to die poor”. Senators who believe in young creationist theories hold that belief in all honesty private. When a repub say they believe in creationism and feel evolution is just a “theory” their just feeding meat to their supporters. When they come out with a stance that they’re pro-life, same thing. They have to if they want to get enough votes to attain the office they want and have enough people to give them money and leverage in their campaign and execute the initiatives they want enacted. Like Dr.Tyson said, no republican wants to die poor, and in their heart of hearts they know God doesn’t pay the bills and increase their net worth, Science does.
jesavius: “science” makes them wealthy? Not sure that’s really true. Control over the ability to dispense the goodies of the federal government is what makes them rich.
