Charlie Brooker’s Newswipe – Brilliant! On his show last week, he described Pat Robertson as “performing the miracle of the talking anus”. Sometimes I love the BBC :-)
Speaking of news, my own county has decided to be engaged in massive idiocy:
They have banned Anne Frank’s diary. I knew the school system here was retarded, but damn, they keep reaching new lows. At least I graduated before this.
I personally can’t get over the Alabama school district decision towards the end of the article to exclude the Diary of Anne Frank in the early ’80s on the basis that it is “a real downer”.
They didn’t ban the definitive edition. It’s still in their library. They are just teaching an earlier version because they got complaints about Anne Frank expressing homosexual desires in the newer version. I think those complaints are absurd, but I’m not sure I fault the school so much. Sometimes kids’ get distracted by these kinds of things (basically, anything sexual), which can really interfere with teaching.

Absolutely brilliant – and so true.
Fucking brilliant.
Awesome.
I love Charlie Brooker so much. Both Screenwipe and Newswipe, which are his, are awesome.

Not strictly true; they’ve banned a newer version which includes material with adult themes – the older version is still to be used in classrooms.
That can’t be nearly as bad as Australia banning A-cup breasts(on full adults, mind you), because it might lead to pedo-rific thoughts.
… compulsory breast augmentation surgeries are the next step!

In 80s Alabama one suspects they looked at the complaint and said “It’s Jews, let’s lose it”. Which I know is very judgemental of me.
But still likely true

Outstanding.
