One Hundredth!

by VorJack

I have achieved a minor milestone — this will be my one hundredth post on Unreasonable Faith. That’s one hundred posts in almost exactly a year — my first post was on March 2nd of last year. That’s hardly a record — and Daniel has something over a thousand — but it’s not bad for someone who just sort of stumbled into the process of blogging.

So, while I catch my breath, open thread. What sorts of posts do you want to see going forward?

  1. Of course, if you hadn’t told us you’d reached 100 posts, then you’d still be at 99.

    :-)

  2. Well done, vorjack. I always find your posts to be informative and nuanced.

I especially enjoy posts about the historicity of the Bible and Christianity. It’s always interesting to learn something and to see things in a broader, historical perspective.

On the other hand, being a non-American, I don’t find American folklore and popular culture that interesting. I can do without posts about Johnny Appleseed or the cookie monster or the religious inclinations of the Founding Fathers.

  3. Congratulations on reaching this milestone! What I’d like to see in the future is…for you to reach the next milestone of 200 posts! :-)

I’d like to read more about the growing Freethinker, Athiest/Agnostic demographic.

How fast is it growing? Are there any projections as to where this population will be in ten to twenty years.

Is there a slow reverse revival going on in the US? I have no way of knowing but it appears that there are more ex fundies showing up on line than ever before. If this is happening what are the causes?

Learning more about who makes up our demographic helps us be more effective at communicating with each other and gives us more social tools to drag fundies kicking and screaming into the flames of eternal Hellfire with our ungodly reason and skepticism.

Thank Satan below, I’m free at last!

  5. Who says that dumping jebus creates a “void” in ones purpose for living….
Congratulations on TIME WELL SPENT !

  6. Cong-rats! The main reason I’ve never started a blog is that I know I’m not clever enough to come up with interesting stuff day after day. My hat’s off to anyone who is.

  7. I always enjoy your posts, so keep on doing what you’re doing!

The posts I most enjoy are the ones that delve into the truly weird sub-culture of mega-churches, evangelical groups, etc. I grew up in a very sheltered, very evangelical-centered environment, and it’s always fascinating as a former insider to hear perspectives from others. So much of the stuff I considered “normal” growing up was actually batshit crazy.

Of course, even I had never heard of the fight clubs for Jesus, lol.

  8. I just reached my *2nd* post (concerning religion) on my blog. Unreasonable Faith has been my favorite source of rational response to religion. I am an evangelical preacher’s son and have been without Christianity for a little over a decade. It is just recently that I have been motivated enough to begin to speak out on my own. My two posts on religion have sparked a debate on Facebook with my father. I’m hoping it can stay civil. Anyone here is welcome to comment on my posts or even give me some writing critique. I aspire to write persuasively about my story in the future.

  9. Something on Baron d’Holbach, please.

  10. I always appreciate hearing things that draw from your own expertise on a subject. It’s great to hear things that I would otherwise have no way of knowing. I think you could also do a sort of introductory series, to address either the common misconceptions about historical Christianity, or common misconceptions about atheism.

  11. I always like it when you engage with religious authors who are attempting reasoned responses to atheism. I may not always agree with your conclusions, but you present your arguments fairly and clearly.

  12. Congrats on the big 1-0-0! This blog has been one of the many resources I’ve embraced in my journey out of organized religion. If it weren’t for all the “out” atheists (like you) organizing this stuff, I don’t think I’d be the happy (and guilt-free) person I am today. Thank you :)
